Pulapanzak Waterfalls

An impressive waterfall on the Rio Lindo located 32 km north of Honduyate Marina. The water cascades down 43 meters with an incredible upward spray, in sunshine there will be a rainbow, and you may also be lucky enough to spot a Scarlet Macaw flying through the tree-tops. Near the waterfall is a beautiful park with a cafeteria, and many swimmimg holes amidst the more gentle upper river rapids.

Entry into the park costs Lps. 20/Adult and Lps. 15/Child. It is also possible to camp overnight in the park for the Lps. 20 entry cost.

Cerro Azul Meambar

Parque Nacional Montana Cerro Azul-Meambar is a 50 sq. km park to the east of Lago Yojoa. This incredible cloud forest reaches skyward to 2047 meters. It has pine-clad slopes, andis home to a variety of animals, including the elusive puma and jaguar. The dense growth of forest surrounds a great many beautiful waterfalls.

Los Naranjos Archaeological Park

On the northern shore of Lago Yojoa 20 km from Honduyate Marina, lies the precolumbian settlements of Los Naranjos. This site is said to be the second most important archaeological zone in Honduras, spanning the period from 1000 BC to 1000 AD, and with an estimated population of several thousand. It is set amongst a beautiful expanse of vegetation and wetlands, and although the settlement may be a little difficult to view, the nature walks are serene, and bird- life plentiful.

Entry into the site costs Lps. 35.00 / Adult, Lps. 20.00 / Child / Student, and US$5.00 / Non-resident Hondurans.

The Caves at Taulabe

20 km south of Lago Yojoa is the Caves of Taulabe. The first 400 meters of the cave have been pathed with lights and steps, but exploration has gone as far as 12 km, still without the cave coming to an end. If you venture in keep a look out for the many stalactites and the bats who have made homes in all the darkest nooks.

On the way to Cerro Azul Meambar one can find various treasures like this hidden lake.
