End Software Patents –
This organization is in part funded by Free Software Foundation, Public Patent Foundation and Software Freedom Law Center. As we have stated, we do not know the principal funding source of Pubpat. The Free Software Foundation promotes the development of software by voluntary public collaboration. They therefore have no familiarity with the patent system nor do they claim to, but instead hold copyrights to the software created by their volunteer developers. They then have no more knowledge of or expertise in the patent system than does PubPat. Surprisingly, they not only want free access to all software they help create, but free use and distribution of everyone else’s. Great idea. Let’s eliminate all patents and copyrights and allow free duplication and copying of all mans creations. China, India, and other foreign nations will simply adore that!
